Daneta Elsa Downie September 8, 1922 to July 21, 2013
Daneta was peacefully given over to her heavenly maker July 21st, 2013 while residing at Marshview Senior Living. Daneta and her three sisters Ruth Rawdon Winnipeg, Manitoba, Alma Bevan Green Bay Wisconsin and Norma Coward Winnipeg, Manitoba were originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. Following World War II Daneta married Robert Hunter Downie of Edinburg Scotland to whom she was married for 54 years. In 1950 they immigrated to Wisconsin. There, Daneta and Robert resided in the Fox River Valley and raised three children. Through the years she moved and resided in Neenah Wisconsin, Bridgewater New Jersey, Lake Forest Illinois, Williamsville New York, Mississauga Ontario, Savannah Georgia and Caratunk Maine. She traveled extensively throughout the country and world making many cherished friendships along the way. In 1983, at the age of 60, she became an American citizen, always proud of her native Canada and forever grateful to have raised her family in the United States. Besides being devoted to her family she volunteered in each community she loved doing hospital or senior living work. To all that knew her she will be remembered for her wonderful smile, her engaging humor, her creative spirit and her tenacity.
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert H. Downie, her mother Emily Ellison, her father Gustov Hock, her stepfather Ernest Ellison and her sister Ruth Rawdon.
